Carl Small Town Center

Carl Small Town Center

Every Enterprise Rose Architectural Fellow has a host organization, and I am lucky enough to have two. The Carl Small Town Center, a community design center based out of Mississippi State University’s School of Architecture will support my work over the next three years. I am excited to have the opportunity to work with a group that has been positively impacting the Delta region for decades. We are in the process of proposing a course that would bring students to Greenwood in the spring to have a hands on role in implementing one aspect of the Baptist Town project.

Humans and Global Sustainability

Humans and Global Sustainability

Partnering with Chad Edwards of emersion DESIGN, I co-taught Humans and Global Sustainability at the University of Cincinnati in the Winter of 2011. The course was designed to introduce students to a variety of ways of thinking about sustainability, environmental, social and otherwise.

Jumping over some of the chasms that sometimes exist between architects, engineers and contractors, the collaborative effort between Village Life Outreach Project and Engineers Without Borders – University of Cincinnati chapter has had amazing results. Serving as a mentor on this project was an honor, as was mentoring a co-op student who supported this and other work of Village Life’s Building Committee during 2011. Read more about this project at the EWB-UC blog.
